Boyle Heights street renamed in honor of singer Vicente Fernandez

LOS ANGELES - A road east of Mariachi Square in Boyle Levels was renamed Friday after Mexican performer Vicente "Chente" Fernández, who sold in excess of 50 million collections overall and won three Grammy Grants.

"The tradition of Vicente Fernández proceeds to resound and motivate individuals around the world, settling on us pleased to decision ourselves Latino," 

Councilman Kevin de León said Aug. 30 after the City Chamber endorsed his movement to rename Bailey Road between First Road and Pennsylvania Road Vicente Fernández Road.

"Through his music, he has carved his put in history on the hearts of fans who will always appreciate him."

Fernández's different distinctions remember a star for the Hollywood Stroll of Popularity, nine Latin Grammys and 14 Lo Nuestro Grants. 

He resigned from the stage in 2016. He kicked the bucket Dec. 12 in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he was likewise conceived.

 His passing at age 81 followed a long time of medical problems and an August 2021 physical issue at his farm in Guadalajara.
